Why You’ll Love Tiramisu Oatmeal

This Tiramisu Oatmeal tastes like a hug in a bowl—comforting, nourishing, and just a little indulgent. The oats 🌾 soak up bold espresso flavor perfect for your morning boost, while mascarpone (or a dollop of creamy yogurt) adds protein 💪 and makes every bite silky-smooth. A dusting of cocoa 🍫 and a drizzle of chocolate spread give it that signature tiramisu finish, without weighing you down. Best of all, the pretty layers of oats, cream, and cocoa make it feel like a little treat, even though it’s a wholesome way to start your day 🌞.

Ingredients

Assorted ingredients in small bowls on a white surface, including milk, ladyfinger biscuits, coffee, oats, yogurt, cocoa powder, vanilla, syrup, mascarpone cheese, salt, and sweetener.

🌾 Rolled oats – Hearty, wholesome oats soak up all that coffee and cocoa flavor so beautifully. I like to use quick cooking oats for maximum absorption.

☕ Espresso or strong brewed coffee – A splash of espresso gives the oats that unmistakable tiramisu flavor you know and love. If you’re not into caffeine, decaf works just as well.

🥛 Milk – Any milk works here. Dairy makes it extra creamy, but almond, oat, or coconut milk bring their own little twist. (See my Homemade Almond Milk and Homemade Oat Milk recipes.)

🍶 Mascarpone Yogurt Cream – This is where the magic happens. Yogurt adds protein and a lovely tang, while mascarpone makes it feel decadent – just like the real dessert.

🍫 Cocoa powder – A little dusting takes this breakfast over the top.

🍁 Maple syrup or honey – Sweetens things naturally to balance the coffee and cocoa without making it feel too heavy.

🍦 Vanilla extract – Just a splash adds warmth and depth of flavor.

🧂 Salt – Just a pinch balances all the sweet components and ties them all together. I like to use Redmond Real Salt for added nutrients.

🍫 Nutella – A drizzle of chocolate on top makes Tiramisu Oatmeal feel extra special. Try it with my Homemade Nutella.

Nonna’s Tip 🥛

Make this recipe even creamier by using milk instead of water to cook the oats.

Three glass jars filled with layered tiramisu are topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. A spoon is lifting a portion from the front jar, revealing the creamy, layered inside. The jars sit on a wooden board with coffee beans.

Tiramisu Oatmeal Tips and Tricks

  • Use good coffee – Freshly brewed espresso makes a world of difference, but strong brewed coffee works beautifully too.
  • Make it ahead – Layer oats, cream, and cocoa in a jar and refrigerate overnight for a grab-and-go breakfast that tastes even better the next day.
  • Add a little crunch – Toasted almonds, hazelnuts, or even granola on top gives texture and a nutty twist.
  • Mix in fresh fruit – Berries or sliced banana bring brightness and a juicy pop to balance the richness.
  • Play with spices – A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg can elevate the flavor and make it even cozier.
