This isn’t just the Best Avocado Toast Recipe 🥑 you’ll come across — this is the Beyoncé of avocado toasts. The game-changer? A generous drizzle of my homemade Hot Honey 🍯 that takes it from basic to brunch royalty. I’m telling you, this is what breakfast dreams are made of.

It’s easy, delicious, and actually keeps you full. I’m personally team feta on top, but go wild with your toppings — eggs, tomatoes, chili flakes … anything goes.

A thick slice of toasted sourdough bread topped with mashed avocado and drizzled with hot honey, with a honey dipper resting on top. The toast is partially sliced and served on a white plate.

Why You’ll Love This Best Avocado Toast Recipe

Because it’s not just avocado toast — it’s elevated avocado toast. We’re talking creamy avo, crunchy golden toast, and a spicy-sweet drizzle of hot honey that basically deserves its own fan club 🌶️🍯. It’s quick, satisfying, and wildly versatile — breakfast, lunch, snack, you name it. Add a jammy egg, some feta, or whatever toppings your heart desires.

How to Prepare

🍞 Use a serrated knife to slice two slices of bread and then spread a teaspoon of mayonnaise onto each one.

🔥Place the slices of bread mayo side down into a hot pan and let them crisp up. Once they are nice and sizzly you can remove them off the heat.

🥑 In a separate bowl, mix the avocado with some salt and pepper to taste.

🍯 Now assemble the toast by spreading the avocado mash onto each slice. Then, drizzle the avocado toast with hot honey and enjoy!

Tips for The Best Avocado Toast

1. Pick the right avo — it matters.
You want that sweet spot: soft but not sad. A ripe Hass avocado should give a little when you press it gently (don’t go Hulk mode). If it feels like a stress ball or looks stringy and brown inside, toss it.

2. Bread choice = big deal.
Go for something sturdy that can handle the glory of all that avocado. I’m partial to a thick-cut sourdough or a hearty multigrain. Basically, skip anything floppy — this is not the time for Wonder Bread.

3. Mash like a pro.
Forget the fork. Grab a potato masher or even a pastry cutter if you’re feeling fancy. Mash that avocado in a bowl before it hits the toast — trust me, your bread deserves better than getting stabbed to death mid-spread. You want it mushed, but still a little chunky.

4. Season that green gold.
Salt is non-negotiable. Add a pinch (or two) when you mash, and go wild with flaky sea salt on top. Bonus points for a grind of black pepper.

Variations and Substitutions for The Best Avocado Toast Recipe

  1. I used Vegenaise in this recipe, but you can use any mayo or even 🧈 butter if you prefer.
  2. If you don’t like 🥑 avocado, you can add any other spread like hummus or cream cheese instead.
  3. You can use 🍁 maple syrup or agave for a vegan alternative. You could also do a drizzle of balsamic glaze, or sriracha!
  4. You can certainly add extra toppings to this Avocado Toast Recipe. I love to crumble feta on top, or you can add a poached 🥚 egg, cherry tomatoes, or microgreens for added flavor and texture.

I’ll admit, I was a little nervous to try this with hot honey. But I figured since I’ve been drizzling it on everything from Ramen to scrambled eggs, why not? 🤷‍♀️ Turns out it was delish! Thank you for making breakfast a little more interesting!💚
