If there’s a way to transform you into a 🍄 mushroom lover, it’s with this Pizza Stuffed Mushroom recipe. These are an absolute dream and the perfect appetizer, or game day snack. This was one of the most highly requested recipes on Instagram so it’s all thanks to you. Thank you for always giving me the best ideas and I really hope you give this easy recipe a try.

Why You’ll Love Pizza Stuffed Mushrooms

These bite-sized Pizza Stuffed Mushrooms are the perfect little snack or appetizer, and great for 🏈 game day. They have all those 🍕 pizza flavors everyone loves, but no carbs and totally gluten-free! They are little flavor bombs with a soft interior and gooey 🧀 cheesy topping. I’ve kept the toppings basic here, but really the options are endless. You could add pepperoni, finely chopped olives, chili flakes and more.

How to Prepare Pizza Stuffed Mushrooms

🔥 Preheat your oven to 450F (230C).

🫒 Oil up or spray a baking sheet, or add parchment paper.

🔪 Now, wipe the mushrooms with a damp paper towel (do not rinse them under water) and then use a knife to chop off the stems.

🍅 Next, add a teaspoon of your favorite pizza sauce on top of each one, along with a tablespoon of mozzarella, and a sprinkle of dry oregano (optional).

⏲️ Place them on the baking sheet and then bake at 450F (230C) for 18 minutes

🌿 Garnish with basil or parsley and enjoy.

Nonna’s Tip 🔥

For a golden, bubbly top, I caramelized the mushrooms on broil for one minute at the end.

  1. You can use any 🧀 cheese you love, such as vegan, goat, boursin, feta, parm etc. It will be delicious with any cheese option so feel free to experiment.
  2. You can also place a mini pepperoni on top, but it’s up to you.
  3. You can use any 🍄 mushrooms you love as long as they are a little bit bigger in size. You could also use large portobello mushrooms, which would be incredible as well.

Yes, you can certainly use any type of mushroom you like. Button mushrooms, cremini, or even portobello mushrooms work well for this recipe too.

What type of pizza sauce do you use?

I absolutely love Rao’s Marinara for this Pizza Stuffed Mushroom recipe, it’s the best!

can I make this recipe vegan?

You can certainly use your favorite non-dairy cheese on top of these mushrooms.

can I use other cheese instead of mozzarella?

Absolutely! Goat, boursin, feta, or parmesan would be amazing in this recipe as well.

Can I prepare these in advance?

Yes, assemble the mushrooms with the pizza sauce and cheese ahead of time and refrigerate them. I would bake them just before serving, that way the cheese is nice and melty.
