If you’re looking for a creamy, frozen, chocolatey treat made with wholesome ingredients, this Strawberry Yogurt Bowl with a magic 🍫 chocolate shell will be your new favorite. The base is made with vanilla yogurt mixed with finely chopped fresh strawberries and a touch of sweetener. To add some excitement, I melted dark chocolate and poured it on top of the strawberry mixture. I then freeze the dish, so that the chocolate creates a crisp shell. During the hot days of ☀️ summer, this is an easy and healthier alternative to those store-bought ice cream confections that we all crave.

Why You’ll Love Strawberry Yogurt Bowl

My Strawberry Yogurt Bowl is seriously hard to beat. When you’re craving a cold bowl of ice cream, try this instead. You’ll get the same great flavor and creaminess of a 🍓 strawberry frozen yogurt or ice cream, but it’s so much healthier and full of protein if you use a high-protein 💪 Greek yogurt variety. The magic of it comes from a gorgeous dark chocolate shell that gets perfectly crunchy after a quick freeze. Strawberries and dark chocolate are not only a flavor combo made in heaven, but they are also full of antioxidants.

How to Prepare Strawberry Yogurt Bowl

🔪 Use a sharp knife to finely dice the fresh strawberries and then add them to a mixing bowl.

🍯 To the bowl, add in the yogurt, vanilla, and honey. Mix well and transfer into a serving bowl or ramekin.

🔥 Melt the chocolate over a double boiler on the stovetop or in the microwave.

🍫 Once melted, pour the chocolate on top of the yogurt, making sure you cover the top with a thin layer.

🧊 Pop the dish in the freezer and freeze until the chocolate has solidified (about 30 minutes).

🥥 Add on additional toppings such as granola, shredded coconut or any chopped nuts.

🥄 Break the shell with a spoon and enjoy!

Nonna’s Tip 🍫

If the chocolate shell is too hard after freezing, simply leave at room temperature for a couple of minutes before breaking it with a spoon.

This recipe was absolutely delicious. I used non dairy yogurt and vanilla extract. I did not have a chopper so I hand chopped the strawberries into very fine pieces. I did not have granola or nuts so I used a small amount of finishing salt on the hardened chocolate. I shared the bowl with my husband and we were both licking our spoons at the end!
