My baked Mushroom Dip is a total crowd-pleaser. This hot baked dip is so cheesy, flavorful, and perfect for hosting. This is the ultimate appetizer for 🏈 game day and it can be easily prepped the night before. Some of my family members don’t like mushrooms and they couldn’t taste them at ALL in this dip! They ate half of the dip without even realizing what was in it. This dip is so versatile, and can be made with other veggies, such as spinach, artichokes, 🫑 bell peppers, jalapeños, and so much more, so feel free to experiment.

Why You’ll Love This Mushroom Dip

This Mushroom Dip makes any ⚽ game day watch party a winner. It’s everything you want a 🔥 hot dip to be: creamy and cheesy, chunky and hearty, warm and full of flavor to keep you going back for more. I also love it because I can have it all prepped and ready to go the day before the party and just pop it in the oven when the guests come over. Everyone who walks in the door will comment on the aromas coming from your kitchen, guaranteed.

How to Prepare

🔥 Preheat the oven to 425F (220C).

🔪 Use a sharp knife to finely dice the onion and mushrooms.

🧅 In a pan over medium-high heat, add the oil and let it heat up. Then add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 1 minute.

🍄 Now, add the mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 5 minutes or until they are browned. Take the pan off the heat and set aside.

🥣 Add the cream cheese and chives to a mixing bowl, and then add the mushroom and onion mixture and stir until fully combined.

🥄 Pour the mixture into a ramekin or any small baking dish, making sure to distribute it evenly with a spatula or the back of a spoon.

⏲️ Top the Mushroom Dip off with the grated mozzarella, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Nonna’s Tip 👩‍🍳

Adding ¼ cup of sour cream or mayo to the cream cheese will give you a thinner dip.

Variations and Substitutions for This Mushroom Dip

  1. Adding ¼ cup of sour cream or mayo to the cream cheese will give you a thinner dip. I left it out but you are more than welcome to add it in as well.
  2. This recipe is really versatile, so you can add in other ingredients such as finely chopped spinach, bell peppers, artichokes, jalapeños, 🥓 bacon bits, or any other flavors you enjoy.
  3. Any 🍄 mushroom will work in this recipe, just be sure to dice it finely.
  4. You can use any creamy cheese of choice. I personally love Boursin as it comes in many different flavours, such as 🧄 garlic and herbs or shallot and chives. If you use plain cream cheese, you may want to add fresh or 🌿 dried herbs for additional flavor.
  5. Feel free to try making this recipe dairy-free by using your favorite non-dairy spreadable, creamy cheese and a non-dairy mozzarella alternative. Let me know in the comments how it turns out!
