This Mushroom Dip is the perfect appetizer for game day and it can be easily prepped the night before. Some of my family members don’t like mushrooms and they couldn’t taste them at ALL!

¼ cup of sour cream or mayo will give you a thinner dip
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425F (220C).
In a pan over medium-high heat, add the oil and let it heat up. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 1 minute. Add the mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 5 minutes or until they are browned. Take the pan off the heat and set aside.
Add the cream cheese to a bowl with the chives, if using. Add the mushroom and onion mixture and stir until fully combined. Pour the mixture into a ramekin or any small baking dish, making sure to distribute it evenly with a spatula or the back of a spoon.
Top it off with the mozzarella, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. The cheese should be golden and bubbly. Enjoy with pita, or crostini, or any bread of choice.
Optionally, adding ¼ cup sour cream or mayo to the cream cheese mixture will give you a thinner dip. I left it out but you are more than welcome to add it in as well.
