I’m telling you, these Hot Honey Chicken Wings are one of the best 🍗 chicken wing recipes out there. I am a HUGE lover of 🍯 honey garlic chicken wings and making these with hot honey instead satisfies every taste bud possible. You are more than welcome to bake your chicken wings on a wired rack and you can definitely use any sauce of choice. This recipe makes 2.5 lbs of Hot Honey Chicken Wings, but feel free to adjust.

Why You’ll Love Hot Honey Chicken Wings

If you are a fan of honey garlic wings, these Hot Honey Chicken Wings will blow your mind. These chicken wings are fall-off-the-bone tender, with a fantastic crispy skin that’s deliciously sticky and sweet. I dialed up the flavor here with my homemade hot honey sauce, which gives these a great 🌶️ kick. These are perfect as an appetizer, 🏈 game day snack or a weeknight meal for the family.

How to Prepare Hot Honey Chicken Wings

🧂 In a bowl add the chicken wings, avocado oil, and the seasonings to taste. Then, with clean hands, massage everything well.

🍗 Add the wings to your air fryer basket in a single layer. (You may need to cook these in two batches).

♨️ Air fry at 380F (193C) for 25 minutes, tossing them halfway through.

🍯 In a small pot, add the ingredients for the hot honey and then heat it through on low heat (you do not want this to boil).

🥣 Finally, toss the crispy wings with the hot honey and enjoy!

Nonna’s Tip

You can also bake these chicken wings in the oven. I like to place the wings on a wired rack sitting on top of a baking sheet. If you don’t have a wired rack, bake them on a baking sheet (they just may not be as crispy). Bake the wings at 425F (218C) until crispy and golden.

Variations and Substitutions for Hot Honey Chicken Wings

  1. You can use as much of the 🍯 hot honey as you wish. I only used a few tablespoons but feel free to use as much as you enjoy.
  2. For more of a honey-garlic flavor, add minced garlic clove to the simmering garlic.
  3. You don’t have to make it 🌶️ spicy and if you don’t like spice you can leave out the cayenne and adjust the chili flakes/hot sauce.
  4. Use whatever hot sauce you enjoy, such as chipotle or sriracha.
