Why You’ll Love Heart Shaped Pizza
The naan is soft and fluffy, with just the right amount of crispiness on the edges, and the toppings are perfectly balanced. The tomato sauce is rich and savory, and the cheese is melted to perfection, creating a gooey, stretchy texture that’s simply irresistible. All you’ll need is a heart-shaped cookie cutter, 4 simple ingredients, and a big smile on your face!
How to Prepare Heart Shaped Pizza
🔥 Preheat oven to 400F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
❤️ Use a 3.7-inch cookie cutter to cut 6 hearts from mini naan or pita bread.
🧀 Cut 6 heart shapes with 3.2 inch heart cookie cutter from Provolone cheese slices.
🍕 Then, use a 1.2-inch heart cookie cutter to cut 18 small hearts from pepperoni.
🍅 Assemble pizzas by placing a teaspoon of pizza sauce on each pita, leaving a border.
✨ Finally, top the pizzas with the heart-shaped cheese slices and three pepperoni hearts.
♨️ Bake until golden and bubbly; consider broiling for the last 30-60 seconds for a golden top.
🌿 Serve with optional toppings such as hot pepper oil, dry oregano, or hot honey.
Nonna’s Tip ❤️
I like to use Naan or pita bread but you can use a tortilla as well.
Variations and Substitutions for Heart Shaped Pizza
These perfect 💖 Heart Shaped Pizzas are lovely as prepared but feel free to adjust for dietary or nutritional concerns. You may need to experiment and adjust the quantities. Don’t forget to let me know in the comments what you try!
- Instead of mini naan or pita bread, try using pre-made 🍕 pizza dough or refrigerated crescent roll dough. However, you will have to experiment with baking times for uncooked dough.
- Experiment with different cheeses 🧀 such as mozzarella, cheddar, or a blend of Italian cheeses. For a healthier option, use part-skim or whole-milk cheese varieties, depending on your nutritional needs.
- Substitute with turkey pepperoni or vegetarian pepperoni for a healthier alternative.
- Add a pinch of dried 🌿 herbs such as oregano, basil, or thyme for extra flavor.
- Use gluten-free tortillas or naan for those with gluten sensitivities.
- For a dessert version of these Heart Shaped Pizzas, use a sweet base like cinnamon sugar tortillas or chocolate spread. Top with fruits such as 🍓strawberries, raspberries, or banana slices.

This is the parchment paper that I use for all my recipes!
Baking sheets are essential in the kitchen. These are great!
This is the cookie cutter set I use for recipes such as my Heart Shaped Pizza's. You Can also purchase a metal one as well depending on your preference.
Common Questions
Yes, you can certainly use alternatives like pre-made pizza dough, refrigerated crescent roll dough, or even gluten-free tortillas. Keep in mind that pizza dough or crescent roll dough will be harder to shape into a heart.
While they are best enjoyed fresh, you can reheat them in the oven for a few minutes to maintain their crispiness.
You can certainly try pesto, alfredo sauce, olive tapenade as alternative bases.
Absolutely! Omit the pepperoni and add extra veggies or substitute with vegetarian pepperoni. If making a vegan version, use vegan cheese.
Heart Shaped Pizza
Ingredients
- 6 small Naan pitas, I used the Longo's Naan buns
- 6 slices Provolone cheese
- 18 slices pepperoni
- 6 teaspoons pizza sauce, to taste
- hot pepper oil or hot honey , is optional
Instructions
- Note: You will need a heart cookie cutter set which is linked HERE and all throughout my post.
- Preheat the oven to 400F (200C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Take the mini naan 🫓 pitas and a 3.7 inch heart cookie cutter. You can make these as big or as small as you like depending on the size of the cookie cutter.
- Cut out 6 equal hearts. Now, take 6 slices of Provolone cheese and with cut out 6 hearts with the 3.2 inch cookie cutter.
- Now, take the pepperoni and use a small 1.2 inch heart cookie cutter and cut out 18 small hearts.
- To assemble, take each heart pita and add a teaspoon (or so) pizza sauce to each one making sure to leave a little bit of a border without sauce.
- Add the heart cheese on top and then 3 heart pepperonis.
- Bake until golden and the cheese is bubbly. I like to put mine on BROIL (top burner only) for the last 30-60 seconds to get the top nice and golden.
- Serve with toppings like hot pepper oil, dry oregano, hot honey, or anything you like!
