This is my go-to when I have serious chocolate cravings or when I have no time to prep a breakfast. The protein powder is totally optional and you can absolutely leave it out or even add more hemp seeds/ hearts too. For every 3 tablespoons of hemp seeds there are 10 grams of protein so it’s a wonderful alternative. You will need:

Ingredients 

  • 1/4-1/2 ripe banana , up to you
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk , or any milk you like
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds/hearts
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cacao or cocoa powder
  • 1 scoop of protein powder , any or leave it out
  • ½ pitted Medjool date , if banana is not sweet enough
  • few mini-choc chips are optional for presentation or for the kids

Instructions 

  • Add everything to a blender and blend. If you want it nice and gold you can refrigerate it or add ice to your glass. Enjoy.

Notes

Add more hemp seeds if you don’t add protein powder, Medjool date is optional but you can also add a teaspoon of maple syrup or any sweetener you like instead if the banana is not sweet enough for you. Feel free to use any plant-based milk of choice. Any other seeds like chia or flax are optional too.
