Simple, delicious, and satisfying: the ultimate combination.

Why You’ll Love This Strawberry Smoothie Bowl

This Strawberry Smoothie Bowl features the classic 🍓 chocolate/strawberry we all love in a fresh, guilt-free treat. It’s quick, easy, and perfect for satisfying sweet cravings without the extra sugar. The creamy blend of frozen strawberries and fruit puree creates a smooth, sorbet-like texture, while the rich chocolate drizzle adds a touch of indulgence that feels like a treat. Topped with crunchy nuts, this dessert is not only 😋 delicious but a delightful way to enjoy a treat that’s both nourishing and satisfying.

How to Prepare

💧 Create a double-boiler by filling a medium pot with water. Bring it to a simmer over medium-low heat.

🥣 Then, place a heatproof bowl on top of the pot (be sure the bottom of the bowl is not touching the simmering water.)

🥥 Add the chocolate chips and coconut oil to the bowl and stir constantly until the chocolate is completely melted.

🍓 Add the strawberries, apple sauce, and nut milk to a blender and then blend until fully combined and smooth (using a blender tamper as needed) for about 1 minute.

🍫 Add the frozen strawberry mixture to a bowl and then pour over as much melted chocolate as you like. Swirl the chocolate around to fully distribute it.

🧊 Place the bowl in the freezer to allow the chocolate to harden for about 5 to 10 minutes.

🌰 Garnish with chopped nuts, if using, and enjoy.

Common Questions

What type of milk should I use?

Any milk will work to make this Strawberry Smoothie Bowl. I used almond milk, but coconut milk, soy milk, oat milk, or cow’s milk will all work.

What type of chocolate chips do you use?

You can use any brand or kind of chocolate chips. I prefer vegan and semi-sweet chocolate chips.

What should I do if my blender doesn’t have a tamper?

If your blender does not have a tamper, you can turn the blender off every 30 seconds or so and use a rubber spatula to push the strawberry puree down the sides of the blender and toward the blades.

Can I use fresh strawberries instead of frozen?

Yes, you can use fresh strawberries, but the texture will be different. Frozen strawberries provide a thicker, ice-cream-like consistency when blended. If using fresh, you may need to add ice cubes to achieve a similar texture.

what else can I use instead of coconut oil for melting the chocolate?

You can use vegetable oil, or any other neutral oil if you don’t have coconut oil. However, coconut oil helps the chocolate harden more quickly and gives it a smooth texture.
