Crispy, cheesy, spicy, and low-carb — this viral sandwich hack swaps bread for a jalapeño + cheese crust that slaps. Only 16g of carbs and 300 cals? This sandwich is going to be jalapeño belly real quick 🌶️🧀.
Take 12 pickled jalapeño slices and pat them dry really well. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, add a thin layer of cheese onto one side (forming a rectangle with the cheese) and another layer on the other side.
Place 6 pickled jalapeño slices onto the first cheese rectangle, packing them in as snugly as possible. Repeat with the second. Top each with a light sprinkle of cheese, then bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and golden brown.
Keep an eye on them as every oven is different. Remove from the heat, let it cool for 5-10 minutes so the cheese can harden and the slices can easily peel off.
Now, assemble with your favourite sandwich toppings. I added a layer of spicy mayo, micro greens, roasted turkey, tomatoes, and red onion. Enjoy!
