  • 1 cup of olive oil, any oil works
  • pinch of salt, to taste

  • Add the basil leaves, garlic, oil, and salt to a blender or food processor and blend.
  • You can adjust the oil and garlic accordingly to your desired consistency.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 7 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Enjoy

Notes

This will last in the fridge for up to a week but it will solidify due to the olive oil. Once you take it out, it will come back to temperature and normal, but if you want to prevent this from happening you can use an oil that doesn’t solidify in the fridge like canola oil — I personally don’t use canola oil much but it’s up to you.
You can also pour the garlic basil oil into an icecube tray, freeze it, and transfer the cubes into a freezer bag for individual portions to be used up to 3 months.
Basil oil sauce can be used to dip crusty bread with, on pasta, salads, drizzled over soups, on pizza, sandwiches, top it on chicken, grilled veggies, shrimp, steak, Bruschetta and so much more so feel free to experiment.

I love using excess basil for this! I freeze a little in quart sized freezer bags laid on their side so I can easily break off whatever amount I need. Love this added to soups!
